We're Back.

Hey folks! As we mentioned last time, we've been working on our transition into a sandbox game, and said transition is just about complete! We've made some new pages, written down a lot of what was the game's plot, and even put up a whole page explaining more about the NPCs you've been interacting. Feel free to use that information in your future plotting to build the Anchor of your dreams... or don't! Like we said, the future is now up to you.

Here's a quick run-down of some of the changes we've made:

▶ Information has been touched up on a lot of the pages for the game. This is still a work-in-progress on the bestiary page, and we need to add a section for player-introduced locations, but the rest should be relatively up-to-date. Let us know if you spot something amiss!

▶ The applications page has a slightly streamlined application for new players, and a form for returning/current players to claim characters to play. This works great for those of you who want to play someone for a short-term plot, or just want to try out someone new!

▶ As mentioned above, we now have a page featuring the NPCs you've come to know, as well as information about their motivations and histories. While their respective players may occasionally pop back in to thread with them, they're no longer a part of the overarching plot unless the players bring them back in.

▶ There's also a lengthy addition to the premise page explaining the history of Anchor and how it came to be. Take a look!

▶ The bestiary has been redone, and while it only features one monster at the moment, we hope there will be more to come, as...

▶ There are now forms to submit creatures and NPCs! Players can now actively bring in new characters and creatures to interact with, write into their threads and plots, etc. We're still working on one of these for locations/settings brought in by shifts that are permanently added to the game world, but for now, just leave a comment on the settings page.

▶ As mentioned before, AC will now be a bi-monthly check-in post so we can tidy up the taken lists and potentially plan for events. We'll post a CR meme when these go up as well, so folks can network and plot more readily!

So... what does all this mean?

As a sandbox game, you guys are essentially running the show. There's no more mod plot. If the mods want to plot up an event and run it, they can, but it won't function any differently from player-run plots now, nor will they be about some overarching, all-encompassing, game-wide story.

We're all building the game together now! You want to host a plot where a Shift transports people temporarily to the world of your character? That can happen. Bring in monsters to infest the kitchens? Sure. Or maybe you just want your characters to explore the planet and colony more, and you have an idea for some cool new locale to permanently add to the game's world? That's all possible! It's a little experimental in terms of what DWRP tends to do with settings, but we want you guys to get creative with it, and to see how it works for ourselves, too.

Your mods (Dog & Grimme) are still around, though! We're here to do upkeep on the pages (applications, npc/monster submissions, etc.), as well as to make sure people still follow the code of conduct for the game, keep an eye out for toxic behavior, etc. We'll also be running the AC, as well as keeping you informed of new locales, beasts, and characters to look out for. We're excited to see what all you guys will do with your new creative reach.

Thanks for sticking with us! Leave any comments or questions below, and have fun out there!

Updates.

Hey folks! Just in case you haven't been following the Discord, we've got some news for you!

Redshift will be transitioning into a sandbox game!

As for what that entails, here's a quick rundown:

a. No more AC! In lieu of a traditional AC, we'll have a bimonthly check-in post just to see who all is around so we can tidy up the taken lists and plan for events.

b. Laxer applications! We still want to have some quality control regarding new players to make sure they know the rules, but a simplified application will be coming soon so folks can get started with low pressure. As for current/returning players, they'll only need to claim characters to start playing them! Feel free to try out characters you've always wanted to play, or bring in temporary ones for plots. Villains, you know who you are.

c. Player events...? There will be a big OOC game info compendium available for players to use, allowing everyone far more freedom in making events to fit the setting! You'll be able to create NPCs and use Red Shifts to facilitate player plots, and as more of the game is explored, more information will be added to it. What this means is you guys will have a direct hand in creating game lore. Let your imaginations run wild!

We'll be working behind-the-scenes to clean up our information pages for the transition. In the meantime...

Check-in.

We want to go ahead and get a tally of who all still wants to play in the setting, and what characters they'll be keeping around. Please reply to this post with the following form:

Thanks for sticking with us, and we're looking forward to what you guys can with the setting!

Updates.

Hey folks! Welcome to the new year, which will hopefully be better than the last. Here are some quick updates for you:

We'll be posting an event come Sunday. Sorry for the delay - the world has been a lot as of late, and your modlies have been unfortunately under the weather.

January AC will be check-in only. We do request that you check-in though, as we are working on getting the lists up-to-date, and want to make sure they're accurate.

Regular AC will resume in February, and will be counted every other month from here on out. Hopefully, the world will be a marginally calmer place by then, and we can breathe a little easier. Until then, take care of yourselves and each other. ♥

Hi, everybody! This is Yue again with my second character - Ritsu Shikishima from Caligula: Overdose. He's a big phony who happens to be capable of shapeshifting into another form, and as such, he has two identities. His info post is here. I want to warn everyone ahead of time that despite pretending to be a kind and sympathetic person, he's actually quite the reverse: he's a voyeur attracted to the taboo - and he's also a psych student who loves to analyze people. As a result, I'm aware he needs to be played with a degree of care; if anyone ever wants to do some heavy plotting for a thread, my PMs and DMs are both open. Also, please don't hesitate to contact me about your comfort levels, and let me know if you'd rather not interact with him.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing with everyone!

Hey there. My name is James, and I'm bringing you another Homestuck, 'Bro'/Betaverse Dirk Strider from Homestuck. I've played the guy a few places beforehand, and he's specifically coming straight from the last game he was in, Sphere_RPG. I'm an old hand at DWRP, but I've been out of it for a while so this is me really getting back into the saddle after a bit.

All things considered, you may or may not know that Bro/Dirk can be a pretty intense, if not toxic, guy. Due to this, I've set up a permissions/opt out post for him because not everyone might be cool dealing with a character like him. You can find his HMD here.

Hi ya'll! My name's Robin, and I'm bringing in this angry mafioso, Gokudera Hayato. He loves... pretty much anything that isn't a human, mostly cryptids and 1000% his boss. He's got a smoking problem and throws dynamite, and uh... has a lot of baggage with me bringing him in CRAU so sorry not sorry?

This will be my first time playing anywhere with CRAU so please be gentle? My muse may be a jerk, but I mean well!

I've got a lot of permissions on his page here with stuff from the last game he was in included. Hopefully it's pretty easy to navigate, but if anyone has any questions/wants to plot or chat, I'm always open to respond!

Yo, I am Cian I would be the fresh meat, new to the game and I leave here for your roleplaying enjoyment fresh from canon with no CRAU Takeshi Yamamoto the Hitman/Baseball idiot player/swordsman/it's complicated. There is tons of information and permissions in his journal (here and here ) if you are unfamiliar with him or his canon. He will be out to make all the friends because it's what he does. I will post him up somewhere besides the TDM soon.

Hey, everybody. I'm Yue and I'm here to bring you guys Dave Strider from Homestuck, but since he's previously been to two games that had heavy memloss mechanics, he... doesn't actually remember much from his canon. His app can be found here and an info/permissions post here, but please don't hesitate to let me know if there are still any additional questions about anything.

Anyway, looking forward to playing with you all!

Hey everyone! Here's the official plotty post for an exploration plot based on the February TDM prompt, where a mystery city has appeared on the horizon. A plot request was submitted and here are some key points that we learned about it:

• Visible from top of the Anchor dome, the city appears dead and seemingly empty, stretching almost from horizon to horizon. While the city is too far to make on foot, the vehicles in the garage could make it there, but not all the way back (with their current battery range).

• Revealed by aerial scans, the city appears to be a colony like Anchor (where the city center is built down into the ground as opposed to upward) but clearly much, much larger and made with more advanced building techniques. It is also surrounded by tall spires, the tops of which are what's visible poking out of the sand tide. The part of the city that's depressed into the ground is mostly full of sand at this point, with the spires being the most visible part. It appears there was a dome similar, but it's currently not in effect because there's no power in the city.

• While characters can explore the parts of the city that are visible, it's currently impossible to get inside--the windows don't break, and any roof access points are buried or jammed. This means that a large scale excavation would be required to explore the city in a productive capacity, which might be worthwhile because...

• These scans have also revealed some peculiar readings! Although it will require some actual samples to be acquired for testing to confirm (which Starscream did not get because he was busy getting chewed on), initial data suggests the presence of materials from characters' worlds (the mods have suggested mythril, energon, vibranium, etc as examples, but please feel free to volunteer other canon-specific substances). This makes the prospect of salvaging from the mystery city a potentially fruitful one, as these materials have the makings to really help things around Anchor.

• HOWEVER this will not be a stroll in the park - in addition to being mostly buried in the sand, the mystery city (we really should give it a temporary name) also appears to be home to many giant sandworms. They're active at night, they're super toothy, and they're aggressive enough to collectively attack a 25' robot and win.

Just a minor inconvenience, really.

Hi folks! I'm Skai and I'm bringing in this here OC researcher by the name of Marian Tenebris. She invented time travel in her world but also irrevocably screwed things up so... will not be messing around with that again too lightly, that's for sure. She still has the device she created but it's very limited in scope/usability so don't count on any funky fun time shenanigans here. Only srs business, no paradox, final destination mode.

I did have her at Hadriel once upon a time, but (sadly?) this is not CRAU version, coming from a different final outcome of her story. One day I'll finish her game... one day...

Anyway pleased to meet y'all! Oh yes, and feel free to add me on plurk at [plurk.com profile] nanomachinesson!
