▶ Transition, Pt. 2

We're Back.
Hey folks! As we mentioned last time, we've been working on our transition into a sandbox game, and said transition is just about complete! We've made some new pages, written down a lot of what was the game's plot, and even put up a whole page explaining more about the NPCs you've been interacting. Feel free to use that information in your future plotting to build the Anchor of your dreams... or don't! Like we said, the future is now up to you.
Here's a quick run-down of some of the changes we've made:
▶ Information has been touched up on a lot of the pages for the game. This is still a work-in-progress on the bestiary page, and we need to add a section for player-introduced locations, but the rest should be relatively up-to-date. Let us know if you spot something amiss!
▶ The applications page has a slightly streamlined application for new players, and a form for returning/current players to claim characters to play. This works great for those of you who want to play someone for a short-term plot, or just want to try out someone new!
▶ As mentioned above, we now have a page featuring the NPCs you've come to know, as well as information about their motivations and histories. While their respective players may occasionally pop back in to thread with them, they're no longer a part of the overarching plot unless the players bring them back in.
▶ There's also a lengthy addition to the premise page explaining the history of Anchor and how it came to be. Take a look!
▶ The bestiary has been redone, and while it only features one monster at the moment, we hope there will be more to come, as...
▶ There are now forms to submit creatures and NPCs! Players can now actively bring in new characters and creatures to interact with, write into their threads and plots, etc. We're still working on one of these for locations/settings brought in by shifts that are permanently added to the game world, but for now, just leave a comment on the settings page.
▶ As mentioned before, AC will now be a bi-monthly check-in post so we can tidy up the taken lists and potentially plan for events. We'll post a CR meme when these go up as well, so folks can network and plot more readily!
So... what does all this mean?
As a sandbox game, you guys are essentially running the show. There's no more mod plot. If the mods want to plot up an event and run it, they can, but it won't function any differently from player-run plots now, nor will they be about some overarching, all-encompassing, game-wide story.
We're all building the game together now! You want to host a plot where a Shift transports people temporarily to the world of your character? That can happen. Bring in monsters to infest the kitchens? Sure. Or maybe you just want your characters to explore the planet and colony more, and you have an idea for some cool new locale to permanently add to the game's world? That's all possible! It's a little experimental in terms of what DWRP tends to do with settings, but we want you guys to get creative with it, and to see how it works for ourselves, too.
Your mods (Dog & Grimme) are still around, though! We're here to do upkeep on the pages (applications, npc/monster submissions, etc.), as well as to make sure people still follow the code of conduct for the game, keep an eye out for toxic behavior, etc. We'll also be running the AC, as well as keeping you informed of new locales, beasts, and characters to look out for. We're excited to see what all you guys will do with your new creative reach.
Thanks for sticking with us! Leave any comments or questions below, and have fun out there!
